Adaptive Decision-Making

On one extreme we follow orders that we ourselves would not issue even in our most autocratic moments. On the other extreme we have employee empowerment gone wild as empowered employees flex their empowerment muscles in ways we never intended. Whose decision-making model is that?!

Description: In this half-day workshop participants practice a decision-making model based on seven decision or problem attributes: quality requirement, data needs, presence of structure, acceptability by subordinates, trust of superiors, goal congruence and potential for conflict.

In this workshop we also marry decision-making styles with team oriented problem solving methods. Using adaptive decision-making methods you will be able to decide when to let your employees decide.

Content:

  • Making decisions versus deciding solutions
  • Five decision making styles from Autocratic to Participatory
  • Seven decision/problem attributes
  • Decision Style Decision Tree

  • be able to integrate decision-making and problem-solving concepts and methods, and
