The
Use of Quality Tools in Managing and Planning |
|
This
course reviews waste elimination approaches such as Lean and Six
Sigma that utilize employee involvement. Roles for management,
staff, union officials, and workers will be discussed. Pitfalls and
benefits of cooperative work practices are covered. |
Middle managers have a distinct and critical role in
every organization, much more than a conduit between top management
and workers. Middle managers face unique challenges within an
organization, striving to be effective from the middle outward
without being ‘caught in the middle.’
In
this training we explore nine roles of middle managers: change
agent, strategist, ethicist, messenger, coach, process owner,
tactician, mentor and team player. Short on theory, long on
practice, this training actively engages participants in
conceptualizing and internalizing key concepts surrounding the nine
roles. |
This one-day workshop is
focused entirely on the use of quality tools in managing and
planning. Quality tools appropriate to assessment, evaluation,
facilitation and planning are covered with examples and practice
exercises. This workshop complements WINOC's Team Leader and
Facilitator soft-skills training with some of the hard-skills and
analytical-skills teams need to perform their work efficiently. |

Process Improvement |

In
this two day workshop at your site, participants develop your
organization's business case for Lean, assess your organization's
readiness for Lean, conduct selected Standardized Work audits,
develop improvement ideas and develop lean Standard Work for
supervisors. Along the way they learn VSM, Standard Work, PDCA,
Kaisen and other Lean Tools... by doing! |
The focus of this two-day
workshop is on people skills needed to survive and thrive in a
high-performance organization. Current and prospective first-line
supervisors and middle managers will leave this program with an
understanding of their personal leadership style, with more
effective listening and communication skills, with improved employee
motivation and counseling skills and with creative group problem
solving facilitation skills. |
In
this two day workshop teams apply quality and Lean practices to improve
office processes at your site. Using value Stream Mapping teams
construct and analyze Current State Maps and develop Future State Maps,
leading to development of process improvement implementation plans. |

Roadblocks
and Pitfalls to Lean
|
This
one-day workshop focuses on how to build partnerships and
communicate effectively for improved job satisfaction and improved
organizational performance. Labor and Management representatives
discuss their different missions but common vision and goals in a
neutral setting with experienced facilitators. |
This
two-day workshop is focused on the soft skills needed to lead and/or
facilitate teams. The Team Leader and Facilitator Training Workshop
will provide you with insight into the differences between the role
of the team leader versus the role of the facilitator and when each
is appropriate. In addition, you will learn a step-by-step model
which will help your teams solve problems by making consensus
decisions in a systematic fashion. |

OFI's
to Action |
|
This
workshop addresses Lean design and innovation using Value
Engineering and Value Analysis.
Value
Engineering (VE) and Value Analysis (VA) are methods of cost control
that emphasize achieving the necessary function at the minimum cost.
VE is recognized as an effective tool for reducing cost,
increasing productivity and improving quality.
This workshop uses an effective seven-step methodology,
which identifies and eliminates areas of high cost by creating
alternatives that perform the required function at a lower cost. |
On
one extreme we follow orders that we ourselves would not issue even
in our most autocratic moments. On the other extreme we have
employee empowerment gone wild as empowered employees flex their
empowerment muscles in ways we never intended. Whose decision-making
model is that?! In
this workshop participants practice a decision-making model based on
seven decision or problem attributes: quality requirement, data
needs, presence of structure, acceptability by subordinates, trust
of superiors, goal congruence and potential for conflict. |
This
one-day workshop is designed to facilitate an organization's
leadership team to parse their list of improvement opportunities
(OFIs) such that the OFIs that are both pervasive and impactful are
identified. Those OFIs are then ordered such that improvement
strategies emerge along will annual goals that support those
strategies. Goal deployment and action planning to achieve goals
modeled during this workshop. A
one-day prerequisite workshop is also available for those
organizations that need to develop their comprehensive list of OFIs. |
