Lean Simulation Workshop

Lean Overview – What’s it all about anyway?

This segment of the workshop will include a review of the benefits of Lean Practices.  This review will ensure that all participants have a common understanding and knowledge base of Lean Tools and Rules.

The Simulation – Bring your hard hats!

You will participate in a hands-on simulation exercise where you will learn the techniques of one-piece cellular flow, continuous flow with kanban signals, ending with a lean flow using a pull system. There are four main flow concepts presented plus many suggestions for training your workers to think lean.  Key learning objectives of the Lean simulation include:

·   Understand Lean concepts of one-piece flow, pull systems, inventory reduction.

·   Why has production flow followed batch ‘n queue over the years?

·   See where waste and inefficiency exists in each type of flow

·   How line imbalance and inventory stockpiles affect the customer

·   How to see the whole value stream

·   How to optimize the efficiency of the whole stream versus a individual process

·   How to identify Value Adding and Non-Value Adding activities

·   How to Think Lean
